In 1955 The Platters recorded “Only You,” their first #1 hit, at Capitol Records Studios in Hollywood. Everyone from Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Dean Martin, and The Beach Boys all recorded at this iconic studio. Fifty-six years later, in mid-2011, Franchesca, the daughter of one of the original members of The Platters, Paul Robi brought to Capitol Records a thirty-five piece orchestra under the direction of composer/conductor Danny Ursetti to record The Platters Greatest Hits which includes “Only You,” “My Prayer,” “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes,” “Twilight Time,” “and The Great Pretender,”all newly arranged by Roy Phillippe.
